A 25-year-old lawyer from Duarte Carmen Isabel Munoz Guzman was crowned Miss Universe Dominican Republic on August 26, 2017.
Standing 5'8" tall, Carmen, who was also Miss International DR 2013, bested 30 other candidates including her court : Jessy Rodriguez (Santiago) finished first runner-up and will represent the country at the 2017 Miss Continentes Unidos pageant. She succeeds last year's winner Sal Garcia.
