The 65th edition of Miss Universe Pageant, widely known as Miss Universe 2016 will be held in Manila, Philippines on January 30, 2017. Let’s see some interesting facts, bit of rumors and trivia about the upcoming beauty pageant.
1. The Mall of Asia Arena is the coronation venue of the main pageant which has the capacity to hold around 20,000 people.

3. Miss Universe in the Philippines will kick off in Camiguin. There will have an auxiliary event in Davao called Mindanao Tapestry Fashion show.

4. Lapu-Lapu resort will host Miss Universe 2016 swimwear event.
The swimwear presentation of Miss Universe 2016 will be held at the Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark Cebu in Lapu-Lapu City.

5. Baguio is confirmed to be hosting one of the pageant's auxilliary events. Chosen beauties will be flown in and out of the city via the Loakan airport and will be toured at the Philippine Military Academy, the Mansion and other key areas in the Summer Capital.

6. Vigan was designated for the photoshoot of the national costume competition. Other destinations are Ilo-ilo and Palawan.

7. Possible VIP ticket price will range around P20k-P25K. Tickets will be released this month, it can be purchased only at SM Tickets.
8. Pre-pageant activities will be broadcast at TV-5. If plans push through, the three major Philippine television networks will come together to broadcast the historic Miss Universe in Manila.
9. Steve Harvey has a five year contract with the Miss Universe Organization for hosting the Miss Universe pageant so he will host the show in Manila. A Filipina might co-host Steve Harvey in the pageant to neutralize President Duterte's displeasure of having Steve Harvey as main host of the event. Duterte expressed hesitation on Harvey hosting the event due to Harvey's wrong announcement of winner during Miss Universe 2015.

10. Candidates are expected to arrive on
13 January 2017. The Philippine Military will serve as security escorts for the candidates of Miss Universe, as assigned by the Philippine national security council.

11. Manila will become the only Asian city that has held the Miss Universe pageant thrice : 1974, 1994 and 2017.
12. Sierra Leone will send a candidate for the first time in the history of the pageant.

15. Bruno Mars is rumored to be in talks to headline the 2017 Miss Universe show.
16. Kristal Silva, Miss Mexico, also participated in Miss Earth 2013 in the Philippines where she entered the Top 8 finalists.
17. According to sources, Miss Universe Organization has invited two of the most loved Miss Universe of the Filipinos- Dayanara Torres and Sushmita Sen to attend the 65th Miss Universe pageant in Manila, Philippines. One of them might join the judging panel.
18. President Duterte may also issue an Executive Order declaring January 30 as a non-working holiday in the country.
