“No Miss Universe this year. Baka next year"
Despite initial reports on the possible back-back hosting of the Philippines for Miss Universe pageant, Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo announced at the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism for Development on Thursday that the 2017 Miss Universe pageant will not be held in the Philippines.
According to news report by ABS-CBN, Teo revealed that the Philippines has been offered the hosting rights to the next edition of the pageant this November as the Miss Universe Organization were pleased with the job they did that they want to do the competition in the country again.
The Philippines hosted the Miss Universe tilt thrice : In 1974, when Margie Moran relinquished her title to Amparo Muñoz of Spain, in 1994 which crowned Sushmita Sen of India as winner, and in January 2017 when Pia Wurtzbach crowned France's Iris Mittenaere.
So it's final! Miss Universe 2017 won't be held in the Philippines this year.
