THE EVENT and THE ORGANIZER
Weave Productions, one of the organizations that link Filipinos together in Singapore is on the process of organizing a modeling competition entitled, The Benevolence Fashion Show 2017 (TBFS 2017) that would provide an avenue for the participants and the community to experience a well-deserved break by expressing their sense of fashion. TBFS 2017 will be held at Serangoon Gardens Country Club, Singapore on the 1st of October 2017.
THE AUDITION AND THE PRE-ACTIVITIES
Last April 2017, an audition was held to find 12 ladies to compete in a modeling competition. 12 ladies were chosen to battle it out on the runway on the 1st of October. The actual event may be still few months away from now but the ladies are engaged with different activities to bond with each other and for the organizers to know a few of their characters and dispositions. They had Zumbaroke (Zumba + Karaoke sessions) and a Model Bootcamp last May. Last Sunday, 11-June, they had their first photo shoot participated by over 20 photographers from Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. The rest of the activities include a Fun Run on 25th of June; 2018 Calendar photoshoot and Swimming & Bbq party on July; City Tour & Presentation Night on August; Series of Programme Dress Rehearsals on September.
THE GOALS
This event basically aims to bring Filipinos in Singapore together to celebrate the sense of community no matter how far everybody is from their homes. One of the modeling competition goals is to find the best lady who is able to display confidence and exhibit commendable catwalk skills wearing different outfits (theme: four seasons) during the fashion show.
THE BENEFICIARIES
The organizers asked the models to choose their beneficiaries. Should they win the competition, a certain percentage of the total profit of the show will be donated to her chosen beneficiary. Moreover, the organizers are keeping in touch with different organizations here in Singapore such as HOME where domestic helpers who are need of legal services stay until they are cleared up with their cases.
