Noelia Freire is Miss Universe SPAIN 2016

Noelia Freire Benito is the new Miss Universe Spain! This 23-year-old from Ciudad Real, Spain will now have the opportunity to represent her country at the upcoming 65th edition of Miss Universe in Manila, Philippines on January 30, 2017. She was crowned at the Barceló Theater in Madrid, Spain where she bested other 19 Spanish women.
She succeeded last year's winner Carla Garcia Barber.

The origins of Miss Spain date back to 1929, when early contests took place until the advent of civil war in 1936, followed by the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, which did not permit beauty pageants until 1961. The winner of Miss Spain is sent to represent her country in Miss Universe.
