Exactly 22 years ago today, also same day of birth of Sushmita Sen, 21-year-old architect student at that time Aishwarya Rai of India was crowned as Miss World 1994.
The 44th edition of the Miss World was held on 19th of November 1994, it was the third time that the Miss World was held in Sun City, South Africa.
At the end of the event, Miss Venezuela Irene Ferreira was placed as second runner-up while South Africa's Basetsana Makgalemele won the first runner-up. During this year also, stunner from the Philippines Caroline Subijano made it through the Top 10 semifinalists.
Aside from being the most popular and influential Bollywood celebrity in India, Aishwarya was awarded by the Miss World Organization as the " Most Successful Miss World ever ".
