18-year-old health and social care student Lauren McDonagh from Buncrana was crowned Miss Ireland 2017 on September 22 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry, Dublin, Ireland. Lauren McDonagh is the first Miss Ireland from Donegal in almost two decades and will now represent her country at the Miss World 2017 competition in China this November.
Lauren bested 27 other beauties including her court Miss Cork Tara O’Leary and Miss Dublin North Vanessa Boland who were first and second runners-up respectively. Lauren has dedicated her crown to her late brother Darren who passed away from muscular dystrophy aged 17.
