First Runner-Up Miss Colombia, Miss Globe 2016 Miss India, and Second Runner-Up Miss Albania

Miss India Dimple Patel was crowned 2016 Miss Globe at the 25Expo City, Tirana , Albania on November 25 (Nov 26, Manila).  She succeeds last year's winner, Philippines' Ann Colis. Forty beauties from around the world competed in the 43rd edition of the pageant.

Dimple is an alumna of R. D. National College. She is a well-known professional model in the Indian fashion industry.

Pia Wurtzbach Joins AsNTM as Guest Judge

Pia Wurtzbach will be one of the episode's guest judges for "Asia's Next Top Model " Cycle 5, the Asian counterpart of the reality television show hosted and produced by American supermodel Tyra Banks.

A couple of months ago, there's been a lot of buzz that the third Pinay Miss Universe will be the host of the biggest modelling search in Asia. However, it was denied by Miss Universe Organization camp.

But this time, Pia Wurtzbach has received an invitation and is set to  grace the upcoming new season of "Asia's Next Top Model". According to sources, she's now in Singapore for filming on her episode as a guest judge.

For sure, Pia Wurtzbach's stint on the show will top the ratings!

Kristina Morata was crowned Miss Amazing Philippine Beauty 2016 during the finals of Amazing Philippine Beauties Pageant held at the Amazing Show Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City on November 26, 2016. She succeeded last year's winner Mikay Anne Arcache.

Kristina bested 31 other transwomen to earn the right as one of the representatives of the Philippines at the world's biggest pageant for transgenders, Miss International Queen Pageant which is set to be held in Thailand on March 10, 2017.

Catriona Gray visits Philippine Consulate in New York

Philippines' representative for Miss World 2016 Catriona Elisa Gray visited the Philippine Consulate in New York before heading to the US capitol, the Washington DC, for the Miss World 2016 contest.
Our kababayan in New York warmly welcomes Miss World Philippines at the consular office on 5th Avenue headed by the new Philippine Consul General Ma. Theresa B. Dixon-De Vega. The occasion is an evening of delight and beauty, especially for Filipinos who love the fanfare of Philippine beauty pageants.

In her Miss World Philippines facebook account, the Albay beauty posted some photos during the event and captioned as :
"Tonight I had the wonderful opportunity to be welcomed by my fellow Fil-Am Kababayans at the New York Philippine Consulate.
I really felt like I wasn't far from home with everyone being so accommodating, welcoming and kind. 
I really enjoyed the live Q&A session along with being able to converse with everyone and find out more about NY from a fellow filipino's perspective. 
Thank you everyone who made me feel so welcomed and at home! I can't wait to be back!!"


Catriona got a chance also to reunite with her Miss World Philippines friends Miss World 2014 quarterfinalists Valerie Weugmann and Miss World 2013 Megan Young.

BREAKING : Nichole Manalo is 3rd Runner-Up at Miss Globe 2016!

Nichole Manalo of the Philippines was Miss Globe 2016 3rd Runner Up! Nichole was crowned in a simple coronation ceremony through facebook live stream of Miss Canada Globe Productions account. She was given a crown, sash and certificate by the Miss Globe head and Miss Canada Globe Productions owner Mias Santa Ana Pilar. The fourth runner-up was Miss South Africa, Natasha Joubert.

The reason why remaining runners-up were not announced : the host has forgotten to take the third and fourth runners-up envelops during the live show.

Miss Mias (Maya) also explained that Miss Thailand made it to the Top 11 because she won the "Miss Internet", she was just notified backstage by the producers before the Top 11 Evening gown competition, but was not properly announced by the host during the coronation night.

The President of Miss Globe also explained about the new rule in pageant's age requirement as Miss India Dimple Patel is already 29 years old.

India's Dimple Patel was crowned Miss Globe 2016, while Colombia's Yenny Carillo and Albania's Kristina Skurra were named first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively in the coronation night held in Tirana, Albania on November 25, 2016.

Miss Supranational 2016's Two Types of Voting Systems

There are two types of voting systems for Miss Supranational 2016 pageant :

1. Mobstar
2. Website

Miss Supranational Malaysia Julylen Liew Gizelle revealed through facebook live streaming that there are two systems of voting for the pageant. Through mobile application "Mobstar" : Download the Mobstar app, sign-up, follow your favorite contestants and like or vote for them by swiping right their content!

Another one is by voting your favorite candidate through Miss Supranational official website: http://www.misssupranational.com/contestants/

The delegate with the highest votes will be granted an automatic spot in the top 10.

As of Nov. 28, 12:54Pm (PH time), Myanmar is leading the website voting page.

Connie Maily Jiménez, Miss Universe Ecuador 2016, posted it on her instagram after her long-time boyfriend Alfredo Vera Bucheli was killed in a car crash in Ecuador last weekend.

Connie Jimenez will represent Ecuador at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant in Manila next year. Last May, Connie had the opportunity to meet Pia Wurtzbach during Miss Universe 2015's visit in Ecuador. In a post on the Miss Universe Instagram page, Wurtzbach described Miss Ecuador 2016 Connie Jimenez as a “stunner.”

Our deepest sympathies go out to you Miss Ecuador. See you in the Philippines.

Jihan Dimachk crowned as Miss Universe TANZANIA 2016

Jihan Dimachk was crowned Miss Universe Tanzania 2016 on November 25, 2016 at the Colosseum Hotel, Oysterbay, Tanzania.
First runner-up was clinched by Lilian Loth and the second runner-up was Lilian Felix. Jihan succeeded Miss Universe Tanzania 2015 Lorraine Marriot.

Jihan will represent her beautiful country at the upcoming Miss Universe Beauty pageant in the Philippines on January 30, 2016.

Flaviana Matata
Flaviana Matata was the most popular Tanzanian candidate in Miss Universe.  She became the first woman to represent her country in the Miss Universe pageant’s history. Flaviana was also the first bald woman to compete in a beauty pageant as she placed 6th place in the finals of Miss Universe 2007 in Mexico City.

Catriona Gray Wows Judges with "Moon River" song

Catriona Gray's voice was one-of-a-kind, and most candidates who also sang during Miss World talent audition can't even come close to her singing talent.

Catriona, Berklee College of Music graduate,  performed classic song "Moonriver". According to Miss World website she stunned the judges with her tender voice. Miss Philippines belonged to Blue team comprises of representatives from Hungary, Honduras, India and Mexico.

Miss India performed one of the oldest dances in India while Miss Hungary performed acro-dance to a tune of " Proud Mary".

There are total of 18 singers, 57 dancers, and 16 miscellaneous during the audition event.

Introduced in Miss World 1978, the Miss Talent winner automatically makes it into the semifinals starting Miss World 2003. The first ever Miss talent winner in Miss World is Miss Philippines Louvette Monzon Hammond in 1978.

"Moon River" is a song composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. It received an Academy Award for Best Original Song for its performance by Audrey Hepburn in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's in 1961.

After Mister Supranational finals, we have another international male pageant to follow : Mister Tourism World 2016! 2016 is really an exciting year for male beauty pageants.

Miss Earth 2016 Graces the Cover of US-Hispanic Magazine

Katherine Espin, Miss Earth 2016 of Ecuador, flaunts her sexy curves as she graced the cover of El Especialito.

El Especialito is one of most popular magazines among the Hispanic communities in the US.

It is a Spanish language weekly magazine audited by CAC with a controlled circulation of 320,000 copies distributed in key high density Hispanic neighborhoods in New York, New Jersey and Miami.  Some of the celebrities they featured before are Jennifer Lopez, Sofia Vergara, Thalia, Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrete.

Katherine Espin bested 82 other candidates during Miss Earth 2016 finals on October 29th in the Philippines making her the second Miss Earth winner from Ecuador.

Miss Supranational Pageant Puts Q and A in the Final Competition

After 8 years of no Q and A, according to sources, for the first time Miss Supranational will have question and answer segment at the final event.

At the previous editions, candidates were just involved in various modelling segments for national costumes, underwear fashion, and evening gown at the big event. Candidates will just undergo a closed door panel interview.

For the first time in pageant's history,  the 8th edition of Miss Supranational will showcase candidates' intelligence and confidence in responding to their final questions.

Other surprises are reserved for pageant's big final event of Miss Supranational 2016. 

Crowning night will take place in the Spa Resort of Krynica- Zdrój in Poland on  2nd of December. The show will be transmitted live internationally via television and online from the Mosir Hall of Sports Venue.

The reigning Miss Supranational is Paraguay’s Stephania Stegman, who will have the honour of crowning the new Miss Supranational 2016.

Miss Universe Glam Shots Venue : ILOILO

Glamour shots! It's one of the most-awaited parts of the competition in Miss Universe pageant. In the previous years, candidates were photographed by fashion photographer Fadil Berisha in their respective glam shots. And for the 65th edition of Miss Universe in the Philippines, Iloilo will be hosting the photoshoot.

It was through the request of Senator Franklin Drilon that his home province was chosen as one of the venues for the photoshoot. The glam photoshoots may possibly coincide with the celebration of Dinagyang Festival on Jan. 22, 2017.

Miagao's Church, Iloilo Esplanade, the Iloilo Convention Center and the Molo Church are being considered as venues for the upcoming Miss Universe photoshoot.

Miss Supranational 2016 Predictions

According to Baba, Vanga, the blind Bulgarian clairvoyant, who died 20 years ago, (predicted the rise of the ISIS, the fall of the twin towers, the 2004 Tsunami, and the global warming) Miss Supranational 2016 would be from.... Ooops!  Just kidding! Lol! No! Not from Nostradamus of the Balkans' predictions. I came up with my own prediction for Miss Supranational 2016 pageants.

With 70 plus girls in the contest, I narrowed down 20 beauties who I think could win. P101's Top 20 list is based on what I feel will happen, not necessarily what I would like to happen. I based my predictions from photos, videos and candidates presence throughout pageant weeks.

I believe the winner will be one of these beauties in no particular order : India, Philippines, Suriname,England and Brazil.

Miss India, Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty, was crowned Miss Supranational 2016 at the grand finale  held on 2nd December 2016 at the Spa Resort of Krynica- Zdrój, Poland.

Miss Supranational 2015 Stephanie Vasquez Stegman of Paraguay crowned Miss  India Srinidhi Shetty  as the new Miss Supranational 2016. Miss Supranational is an annual national beauty pageant that is run by the World Beauty Association. The first edition of the pageant was held in Poland in the year 2009.

24-year-old Srinidhi of Bangalore, India was the Miss Queen Karnataka during the regional Miss South India pageant in the year 2015. The stunner has also won numerous titles during local pageants, and has been working as an actress and a professional model. Srinidhi bested 71 other candidates at the Miss Supranational 2016 finale.

MEXICO wins 1st Mister Supranational Pageant

Diego Garcy of Mexico won the first edition of Mister Supranational 2016 held in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland on December 3, 2016. Diego bested 35 other candidates from around the globe. He will receive USD10K in cash and a modeling contract in Europe.

Diego Garcy is a famous international model who hails from Jalisco in Mexico. This 26- year- old, 1.89 m-tall business administration entrepeneur is also a football player.

The idea of the Mister Supranational pageant is to discover new talents for the modeling and television industries and to produce instant celebrities.

The Real Story Behind Bb. Pilipinas '82 "Virginity Q & A": Maria Isabel Lopez and Rita Gomez

This ends the urban legend that Maria Isabel Lopez was asked by Rita Gomez if she is still a virgin during Binibining Pilipinas 1982 finale. Through the years, we thought that the legendary Pinay beauty queen Maria Isabel Lopez was the one who was asked by Rita Gomez on "virginity question". Actually, it was a different candidate who was asked by Madam Rita, one of the original Bomba Queens of Pinoy movies, on stage and in live tv telecast of Bb. Pilipinas 1982 Pageant. The real interviewee : Janet Sales of Metro Manila.

Janet Sales was a semifinalist that night and also won Miss Sunsilk. She also joined Mutya ng Pilipinas 1986 and was a runner-up.

Here's a transcript of the Q and A circulated throughout the years but eventually proved as a hoax.

Q (asked by actress Rita Gomez): Here’s your question, hija, Are you still a virgin?
Maria Isabel: If I say I still am, can I bring home the crown tonight?
Rita: Good answer!
Maria Isabel: What about you Ma’am, are you still a virgin?
Rita: Hija, I have 5 children with 5 different fathers, and what do you call that, Immaculate Conception?

Miss World 2016 : Michelle Obama In Talks to Be a Judge

Earlier today, sources told Pageanthology 101 that Miss World producers included First Lady Michelle Obama on a list of possible Miss World judges. Other notable name rumored to judge the pageant included is Philippines' very own Megan Young.

Michelle Obama's , the wife of US President Barrack Obama,  last day as first lady will be January 20, 2017. Michelle, first African-American First Lady,  has become a fashion icon, a role model for women, and an advocate for poverty awareness, nutrition, physical activity, and healthy eating.

Miss World 2016 will be held on 18th December 2016 at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, United States just south of Washington, D.C. 119 contestants from all over the world will compete for the blue crown.

Well I hope she says "yes".
